Abstract text

Based on the ability of the Whole Atmosphere Community Climate Model – eXtended (WACCM-X) to simulate thermosphere changes for the 20th century, we examine results of Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) projection-based simulations from WACCM-X to look at changes in the thermosphere. We show results for solstice and equinox days for temperature, the atomic oxygen to molecular nitrogen ratio (O/N2), and atomic hydrogen as they change throughout the 21st century. This reveals the seasonal nature of the changes which can be expected over the next 100 years in the thermosphere.
