Abstract text:

We present a citizen science project, Gravity Wave Zoo, using the Zooniverse platform, which allows people of all ages and backgrounds the chance to participate in real research. There are three main science aims for the Gravity Wave Zoo project: 1) Identify gravity waves, instabilities, and breaking. 2) Learn what conditions are needed for these different events to take place. 3) Compile observations over multiple years to study seasonal variations in gravity wave events. Using Gravity Wave Zoo, we plan to use classified observations made by volunteers for a long-term, seasonal study of the weather dynamics over the Arctic region that causes and supports these types of wave events.
