Long title

Description

The Committee on Solar and Space Physics is working with the Heliophysics Division (HPD) at NASA HQ on a potential short report, exploring options for an innovative instrumentation selection process to allow agility to respond to any given ride opportunity. This might, for example, be similar to Planetary Science Division call for instrument packages for lunar landers.

The basic concept is that high TRL (technology readiness level) investigations could be funded through CDR (critical design review) and then held until a ride is available. In this manner an HPD portfolio would be created and could be quickly integrated for flight.

The purpose of this CEDAR workshop session is to conduct a Town Hall aimed at soliciting community input for the proposed report, which is expected to be written in Fall 2019.
