Abstract text

The Data Assimilation Research Testbed (DART) is a community facility for Earth system data assimilation developed and maintained by the Data Assimilation Research Section at the NSF National Center for Atmospheric Research. DART provides state-of-the-art ensemble data assimilation tools for dozens of large Earth system models including GITM, Aether, TIEGCM and WACCM-X. DART has recently been extended to include novel nonlinear and non-Gaussian ensemble assimilation algorithms that can significantly improve analyses and forecasts produced with these models. This poster will present some examples of research that has been accelerated by using DART for space weather applications. It will also provide information on how interested scientists can get started using DART for their research.
