Description

The Space Weather Data Portal is a web application developed by CU Boulder’s Space Weather Technology, Research, and Education Center (SWx TREC). The Space Weather Data Portal is available online at https://lasp.colorado.edu/space-weather-portal/ to showcase, access, and compare diverse datasets related to Space Weather events.

The Data Portal is event-based, focusing on visualizing many datasets from the same event as the event progresses through time. A uniform access layer allows data from diverse sources, housed in any location, to be searched, selected, visualized, and downloaded all in one place. The application is growing quickly as we add more datasets, users, and incorporate user feedback into this community tool.

This workshop will provide a walk through of the Space Weather Data Portal and its current resources. It will outline the process for adding more datasets to the portal, show how users from students to instructors to professionals can access, visualize, share, and download the diverse datasets available through the portal. Additionally, a preview of how the portal will, in the near future, integrate with SWx TREC’s Space Weather Model Staging Platform to test space weather models and hypotheses as well as create new datasets from simulations using multiple historical data sources of space weather events.
