2024 Workshop: NASA EZIE mission and collaborations

This workshop is an effort to introduce the Electrojet Zeeman Imaging Explorer (EZIE) mission and its expected measurements to foster collaboration and broaden the scientific community’s participation. The EZIE mission will provide the community with geolocated high-spatial resolution measurements of electrojet-induced magnetic fields, neutral winds, and temperatures in the mesosphere. These measurements are referenced at 80 km, overlapping with other measurement techniques, such as lidar, meteor radar, and all-sky imagers. We want to highlight the potential of the EZIE expected measurements to advance MLT science, and prepare the community for coincident datasets of this mission and across the community to stoke collaborations and validation schemes.
With the approaching Electrojet Zeeman Imaging Explorer (EZIE) mission launch, with its window set for October/November 2024, we would like to prepare the community to get the most out of its data products. That includes the establishment of collaborations with other satellite missions as well as ground-based measurement campaigns. We want to highlight the potential measurements of the EZIE mission, show how the community can benefit from this mission, and begin discussions on the validation schemes for these measurements.
